In this video, Richard Rosenberg, consultant to CGAP, discusses the issues of pricing of financial products for poor and what information the book reveals about pricing. Richard says MFIs should defend high interest rate based on the unavoidable cost of delivering such small loans instead of comparing it with money-lenders’ interest rates. Further, he recommends “Portfolios of the Poor” as the best book available on microfinance especially because of its financial diaries that give graphic representation of the role the financial services are playing in poor people’s lives.
